Biography
David Zoppo is an environmental and energy attorney who has experience representing a variety of clients in administrative proceedings and contested case hearings before the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. He also counsels clients regarding the environmental risks of mergers and acquisitions, conducting environmental due diligence reviews for manufacturing companies and developers of renewable and conventional energy projects. He has also counseled clients regarding compliance issues under the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act, Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act and other major energy and environmental statutes.
While in law school, David served a legal extern to the Hon. Richard R. Clifton of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has authored articles that have been published in the Wall Street Journal, Forbes, Energy Policy and The Electricity Journal, and is co-author of A Smarter, Greener Grid: Forging Environmental Progress through Smarter Energy Policies and Technologies. As an undergraduate, David volunteered for the AIDS Law Project, working in Cape Town, South Africa with NGOs and government officials to advocate for the rights and well-being of refugees and other displaced individuals.
