Biography

Brett Stokes is a Visiting Professor of Law at Vermont Law School’s South Royalton Legal Clinic (SRLC), where he is a staff attorney working within SRLC’s Vermont Immigrant Assistance Project (VIA). Brett is a graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder, and University of Colorado Law School. Brett brings to VIA over seven years of immigration litigation experience — first as a student attorney with University of Colorado Law School’s Criminal and Immigration Clinic, an associate attorney at the Meyer Law Office (MLO) in Denver, Colorado, and most recently as a senior associate attorney at MLO. He has successfully managed a high caseload and litigated a wide array of cases, spanning from complex removal defense, family-based, and humanitarian-based immigration cases. Brett speaks English and Spanish and has represented primarily monolingual Spanish speakers throughout his career. In addition to his experience providing direct legal services, he has been active in his community, providing pro bono legal support and bilingual Know Your Rights presentations to community members and partner providers.
