Biography

Dr. Carolina Maciel is an experienced attorney and advocate of animal law, with specialties in the mandate and activities of the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH, formerly OIE), the agreements administered by the World Trade Organization (WTO), and the regulatory structure of Brazil and the European Union. She is currently the Senior Advisor in International Trade Law and Policy for the World Federation for Animals (WFA), Chair of the America regional working group of the International Coalition for Animal Welfare (ICFAW), and Adjunct Faculty for the Vermont Law School online learning program, where she teaches International Environmental Law (INT 7421). She is also a member of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB), the Women Inside Trade (WIT), and of the Society International Economic Law (SIEL).
