Food Safety Modernization Act Wikipedia Edit-a-thon

March 23, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Are you interested in becoming a Wikipedia editor? Join the Agricultural Law Information Partnership for a free workshop and “Edit-a-Thon” on March 23.

The ability to edit Wikipedia is a powerful asset in communications, advocacy, and research dissemination. Anyone can become a Wikipedia editor, and since millions seek information through the site every day—including attorneys and policymakers—it’s important that the information is fair, accurate, and accessible.

VLS’s Center for Agriculture and Food Systems and our partners at the USDA National Agricultural Library and the National Agricultural Law Center will be offering a crash-course in Wikipedia editing on Tuesday, March 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. During this “Edit-a-Thon,” experts will explain the ins and outs of Wikipedia editing. We’ll also dive into a hands-on project learning about—and updating pages related to—the Food Safety Modernization Act, using some of the resources VLS students created while working in our Food and Agriculture Clinic.

You don’t need to be an expert in food or agricultural law to join—everyone’s welcome. You can also attend for just part of the day.
