Burlington Mayoral Debate
February 23 @ 12:00 am - 1:30 am
Vermont Law and Graduate School, the Caroline Fund, and the Vermont Institute of Community and International Involvement are teaming up to host a debate between Burlington’s mayoral candidates.
The four declared candidates for a 3-year term in the city’s top seat—Joan Shannon (D), Emma Mulvaney-Stanak (P), Christopher Haessly (I) and William Emmons (I)—have been invited to respond to questions from moderators, attendees, and each other during the event.
Candidates will be asked to share their views on, and plans to address, public safety as a major concern for the city, with a special focus on the preservation of Constitutional rights and civil liberties. Topics covered will include: affordable housing, substance control and misuse, equity concerns, and education.
Former Burlington Mayor Peter Clavelle, citizen journalist and activist Sandy Baird, and Jared Carter, professor at Vermont Law and Graduate School and director of the Vermont Community Law Center, will serve as moderators.
This event will be livestreamed for the public here and on Burlington Telecom 317.
