Appellate Advocacy 2017
Appellate Advocacy is a course that students take in the fall of their second year. Students learn advanced legal writing and appellate advocacy skills. They ultimately write a brief and argue cases before a panel of judges every November. The cases change from year to year because they are based upon real cases pending before the United States Supreme Court.
For 2017, Appellate professors chose the following cases:
Professor Brian Porto: Class v. United States
Professor Beth McCormack: Masterpiece Cakeshop Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission
Professor Jared Carter: Jesner v. Arab Bank, PLC
Professor Rebecca Zietlow: Husted v. A. Philip Randolph Institute
Competition 2017 DATES:
November 13, 14, 15, 16, 20, 21, 27, 28, 29, 30
