In July, Sophia Kruszewski joined the Center for Agriculture and Food Systems to lead the Food and Agriculture Clinic. Sophia returns to VLS after spending the last five years immersed in federal food and agriculture policy with the National Sustainable Agriculture Coalition (NSAC). At NSAC, Sophia focused on the Food Safety Modernization Act and its implementing regulations, as well as the Farm Bill, Clean Water Act, and other federal issues impacting farmers and the food system.
Sophia has worked for the Center for Food Safety, clerked for the White House Council on Environmental Quality, and interned with the Honorable Judge Paul L. Friedman of the Federal District Court for the District of Columbia. She holds a B.S. in Environmental Science from the University of Michigan and a JD from VLS, and is thrilled to be back on campus. Sophia grew up on a small diversified farm in Michigan, and enjoys gardening and raising chickens in her Burlington backyard with her husband and young son.
