JD/Master of Food and Agricultural Law and Policy (MFALP)

Home JD/Master of Food and Agricultural Law and Policy (MFALP)

Vermont Law and Graduate School offers students the opportunity to earn both a Juris Doctor degree and a Master of Food and Agricultural Law and Policy (MFALP) degree in three academic years, the period of time ordinarily required to earn the JD degree alone. To earn both degrees on this accelerated schedule, JD/MFALP students are permitted to count up to nine credits of environmental course work toward both degrees. In addition, MFALP students take classes in the VLGS Summer Session and/or pursue an externship during the summers after their first and second years.

The JD/MFALP degree program is designed for students who wish to create, innovate, and support sustainable food and agriculture systems. The program trains the next generation of food and agriculture advocates and entrepreneurs through an array of food and agriculture courses, environmental electives, and course in writing and advocacy.
