JD/LLM in Energy Law
Vermont Law School offers students the opportunity to earn both a Juris Doctor and an LLM in Energy Law from the law school. Students may complete the JD/LLM in Energy Law joint degree program in less time than is required to obtain each degree separately by counting nine JD credits toward the LLM degree. Students in the JD/LLM in Energy Law joint degree program take classes in the VLS Summer Session and can pursue a wide variety of experiential learning options.
The JD/LLM in Energy Law joint degree is designed for students who seek to pursue a career in energy law and policy, take advantage of the large and diverse Vermont Law School energy and environmental law curriculum, and develop deep knowledge and expertise in the law and policy governing energy use, production, and transmission.
Graduating with a JD and an LLM in Energy Law creates a pathway for students seeking to practice law or engage in high-level policy work in the energy field. The joint degree program prepares students to pass the bar in any state in the country and to engage in the practice of law. At the same time, the advanced LLM degree provides students with the knowledge and practical experience to become effective specialists in energy law and policy.
